OGA Dota PIT S5: China Storylines & Predictions

Each and every Esports event has its respective storylines, including those for the favorites and those that are underdogs and looking to cause upsets. With all teams being from the same region, it is likely that most will be familiar with each other, which should provide for some intense, tactical action as they battle it out for bragging rights and a bigger slice of the prize pool.

The event is one of the larger events as the Dota 2 International (TI) 10 looms around the corner. While the event acts as a great way for the Chinese teams to practice and prepare ahead of the biggest event of the season, it is very likely we will see teams keep new tactics and strategies to themselves and keep any upper edge details close to their chest.

It’s important to note that the Chinese region is deemed the strongest heading into TI 10, and they will not want anything to slip at this late stage.

Favorites For The Event

With the event only featuring eight teams, and eight strong teams at that, there are a few favorites that are appearing regularly in predictions by analysts and the community. Surprisingly RNG are not featuring in many favorite lists, and instead, it is PSG.LGD, Vici Gaming, Team Aster, and Elephant have the highest expectations as the event is fast approaching.

Out of the four teams mentioned, it is PSG.LGD that most viewers will have their eyes firmly locked on. Depending how this event goes, they could head into The International as favorites which is typically a confidence boost along with added pressure. PSG.LGD had some sloppy moments but have since finished 3rd at the Singapore Major 2023 and went on to become WePlay Animajor champions which has them coming in as favorites this time around.

The final point to feature is Invictus Gaming, as they have been a longstanding and notable contender at the highest level of Dota 2. Invictus won the Singapore Major where PSG.LGD finished third, however had a lackluster display in the recent major. This will act as one of the last moments for the team to make a drastic change ahead of The International, and the might be able to flesh out some fresh ideas ahead of the big event.
